As you might have noticed, we do things a little differently at Pepper Gang. And we definitely like to take matters into our own hands when we have the chance.
Spend some time with us and you’ll catch us all gathering in the conference room a few times a month, notebooks in hand, for a different kind of meeting.
As with any company, (especially one of a smaller scale like us), each of us has our own areas of expertise. Despite our different focuses, we’re most successful when we work cohesively and in sync.
But we can’t achieve this cumulative success by remaining in our own bubble of knowledge. Yes, we all have decent knowledge on the world of marketing as a whole. But it would be naïve to assume we know exactly what our coworkers have to accomplish on a daily basis.
So, we strongly encourage internal team trainings. Each member of the gang presents a brief training on a specific subject in their field to the rest of the team.
For example, our SEO Manager, Mercedez, might present a training on how to research keywords and trends in order to write a timely piece of content for our company blog.
As it turns out, these meetings aren’t just an excuse to get away from our desks and socialize (although we don’t hate that part of it).
It keeps us in sync
If the Social Media team only focused on tweeting about trends instead of also learning about how the Business Development team is targeting potential partners, they could miss out on some huge opportunities. By talking with the Business Development team, we can nurture potential leads during the decision-making process through social media.
See what we’re getting at?
Everything we do is connected somehow.
Without the existence of one sector, the others wouldn’t thrive.
We’re developing personally
Never, in the history of a business, has learning too much about an industry been a bad thing. Learning about other pieces of the industry only helps our work improve and run better as a business.
On a more personal level, though, we’re developing our knowledge for whatever else will come.
Whether you find yourself striving to climb up the corporate ladder of your current employer or you hope to run your own marketing empire one day, the only way you’ll be able to get there is through education. And we mean learning everything you can.
In no time, you’ll crave new knowledge on the regular.
We’re strengthening relationships
One of the most important traits of highly successful businesses is strong relationships among coworkers.
Participating in team trainings gives us more information than we think. We begin to understand how our coworkers learn, share knowledge, and communicate. Working together becomes significantly easier if we can accommodate different work styles and communicate accordingly.
Try something new and start to include internal trainings into your monthly staff schedule. You might just learn a thing or two.
Where do we head after trainings? To lunch of course! See where the gang grabs their grub around town when it’s time to eat.
